Everthing can happen in Hong Kong, home sweet home!

Not sure if you have noticed the foreign news by Corriere della Sera few days ago:

[Hong Kong, Superwoman in action - Rich manager puts on a cartoon costume of heroine and distributes money and food to those who do not have]

‘The good Samaritan who calls herself ’’Bauhinia heroine’’ from the name of the beautiful flower, the central emblem on the official flag of Hong Kong, has distributed food and rivers of banknotes to the poor and homeless of the city; banknotes from 100 to 200 HK$ (the equivalent of about € 10-20) for each. On the newspaper, which interviewed her by email but provided they do not reveal her name and face, said to be a businesswoman who ’’earns tens thousands Hong Kong dollars every month.’’ ’’I do not want people to think that I do that for becoming famous, I just want to help the poor’’ said the masked benefactor.’

The controversy began in February after the presentation of the new fiscal budget 2011-2012. After 7 years of surplus, we have accumulated a fiscal reserve of HK $ 71.3 billion (about € 6.7 billion), with rising inflation and poverty, the government, under pressure, decided to give money to citizens with a special formula. In the prospect of the budget, Financial Minister John Tsang has decided to allocate 6000 HKD (560EUR) to each taxpayer of the mandatory pension fund, MPF - a compulsory superannuation was introduced in 2000. But in Hong Kong, there are only 2.5 million workers out of a total of 4 million covered by this fund. The workers will be benefited from such contributions (but only after they retire ...), but the others? Those who need help the most, who are without work, will not be helped.

In March, however, there have been several protests and in response to this intense pressure, Mr Tsang went back on his decisions, decree to give 6000HKD (560euro) to each resident, even if still not clear how.

But the protests have not subsided as a result of this change. In fact, the part of public opinion lined up against immigration demanded the exclusion from this economic benefit of those residents who come from mainland China.

In this moment, here comes the ‘heroine Bauhinia,’ sounds like a storyline from cartoons film. This heroine was in poor neighborhoods to distribute food and money because she thinks that is the most direct way to help the poor ...
L’identità di questa eroina è ancora un mistero, ma ha un’account su facebook con circa 5000 fans.
